Luke Gray Publishes and Presents Novel "Cable-Train" HVDC Installation Method
Luke Gray, an MIT graduate student and researcher within Professor Alexander Slocum's group, recently published a technical paper and presented it at the CIGRE US National Committee's 2018 Grid of the Future Symposium. In the publication, Luke proposes a proof-of-concept method of continuously manufacturing and installing high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable from a moving "cable train". Three Generations of Family Business
J.F. Gray & Associates has hired Nicholas “Nick” Gray to be the company’s newest sales engineer. As the grandson of the company’s founder, Jack Gray, and the son of the current president, Bob Gray, Nick marks the third generation of J.F. Gray’s family business.
Of the company’s new hiring, J.F. Gray President Bob Gray said, “We’re pleased to have Nick aboard. His combination of technical expertise and strong communication skills will yield him success in his future interactions with manufacturers and customers alike. Nick has a bright future in the industry. I am proud to have the opportunity to work with my son and to build upon what is now three generations of family business.”
Nicholas Gray was previously employed as an aero-thermal fluids engineer at Pratt & Whitney, where he designed turbine blades for the engines of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and the Black Hawk and Apache helicopters. He has also acquired internship experience at FlexEnergy, Brayton Energy, and JPMorgan Chase. Nicholas holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and Stanford University, respectively, and he is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy.
